Mid Year Resolutions

I used to believe in making resolutions either at the start of the year or on my birthday. Last time I made birthday resolutions for my 30th, achieved some of them and forgot about the others. Whereas every year I make resolutions at the start of the year, again, I achieve some of them and fail at some.

Last year and the year before it was different! I was pregnant and had a baby, so I decided to take it easy without putting any pressure on myself. However now I want to get back into making resolutions(By now I am sure you know that I love making resolutions) and I don’t want to wait for another 6 months to be able to list out my resolutions and start working on them.

This is July and as we are halfway through the year, it’s  perfect time to come up with the resolutions.

So here are some of mine for the remaining half of the year:

1. Spend less time on phone when Viaan is around

Yes, yes, yes!!! I am bad! When I was pregnant, I promised myself that I will be a perfect mom and that I will keep my baby away from technology and  won’t spend time on phone when Viaan is around. But what to do, sometimes I get sucked into the temptation and try to check my phone for Instagram and Facebook updates(I do it more when I feel tired and want to relax). Going forward, I will try to not do so! When Viaan is around, I will spend more time around him. I will never let him feel that my phone is more important to me than him.

2. Take Youtube seriously

All these years I have always treated my Youtube and Blog as a hobby, however this year I want to give it a try and see if I can take my channel forward and make it into a business. I just want to put all my energy into it and see if I can make something out of it!

3. Eat Healthy

A month or so ago I made a video on my weight loss journey and  how I would want to lose weight in a healthy manner. My goal is not only to lose weight, I want to feel good from inside and out. I want to improve the quality of food that I eat- less processed food and eat more of the stuff that’s closer to nature.

Update: I have already lost 2 kgs 🙂

4. Increase Patience Levels

Many people at work tell me that I am a very patient person but my family and I know that I have very bad patience levels and it’s not a good thing, so I want to make an effort in improving it. When I get impatient, Dinesh and my parents understand it but by being that way, I don’t want to set a wrong example for Viaan.

Children watch us and learn many things, so I want to be a better person!

5. Read More

I recently read somewhere

‘Elevate the quality of everything that you consume-magazines, news, books, films and food’

This is so true and I totally believed in it ever since I was a child.

That’s why I never watch trash tv or read gossip magazines etc. I believe in watching and reading quality stuff.

Reading is my jam!

But I stopped reading books when I was pregnant because I had horrible motion sickness, which prevented me from reading anything on the tube. Later after having Viaan, I was always interrupted by one thing or the other. When I was in India, I was able to read a book (1984) everyday between 11pm and 12 midnight. Now I am busy and tired most of the time, reading a book at 11pm is out of question and when I attempt to read a book on the train, I unintentionally fall asleep.

I want to somehow bring back the love of books into my life. I feel good when I read good books. I will try to go to bed early and try to read for atleast 30 mins. This is the plan for now, let’s see how it goes!
