3 days in Rome- Day 2

It was only the second day but our feet were already hurting by all the walking we did on Day 1. However the excitement to visit the Colosseum kept us going. We had a heavy breakfast in our hotel and ventured out into the city. BTW in the first picture I am standing in front of the door of our hotel, which is interestingly named Mimosa!

For the first half of the day, we soaked in the beauty of Colosseum along with the rays of warm October sun. It's a massive structure that has a capacity to fit in more than 60,000 people and so beautiful that I didn't want to leave. We were told that October was the best time to go to Rome as it is not as busy as in the summer, as well as the temperature is mild.

After enjoying the grandeur of Colosseum, we went to the Roman Forum which is a remainder of the classical Rome. Then we spent the remaining afternoon doing what we love the most, exploring the city in an offbeat way. We walked around the by lanes, found some family owned pizza and coffee shops. One such find was Bottega Rocchi, I had an egg, artichoke, olives and mushroom pizza on my first visit to the shop. It was pretty inexpensive and tasted amazing. If anyone is going to Rome anytime in future, make sure to visit this place.

With satisfied tummies, we wandered around some more streets and did some people watching. I love people watching when I travel, I like observing tourists and locals, their dressing, body language and absorb everything in.

Later in the evening, we went for a romantic dinner. We found this restaurant called  Vecchia Locanda in an alley way, just by chance. The place was so beautiful that we decided to go there immediately. Thankfully the food was amazing too! Highly recommend it!
