Florence : Visit to Piazza del Duomo and Santa Marie del Fiore Cathedral

On our second day in Florence, we visited three places and that was obviously after having a sumptuous breakfast of spinach omelette and cappuccino.

The first place that we visited was Piazza del Duomo where we first went to the Santa Marie del Fiore Cathedral. It is one of the largest church in Europe. The picture of the cathedral can be seen in the below picture. We then climbed the dome of the cathedral that has 463 steps, which was well worth it because of the sight of Florence that we got to see from the top.

After that we also went to see the Giotto's bell tower and the baptistery. Later in the noon was the time of the world famous Uffizi museum/gallery. This is one of the most famous museums of Florence and the most visited one. It houses art works of many famous artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.

By the time I was done with all the art and cathedrals, I was famished. There is a restaurant right outside the Uffizi museum which is not a fancy one but they have an amazing selection of food that tastes good. Or atleast I felt that the food was good as I was insanely hungry and tired.

Roasted Potatoes

Later in the evening we headed to Ponte Vecchio, it is an old bridge made of stone and has shops on both the sides(As seen in the pic below). Most of the shops sell gold and silver jewellery. All and all it was a tiring and yet fun day out in Florence.
