Keep Calm & Get Healthy

Pic via Pinterest

I had grown so big back in 2011 that a relative of mine asked me if I was pregnant. I didn't feel bad, however I took that as a challenge and lost almost 5 kgs. I did some blog posts during that time. Check the posts here. I kept the weight off  for an year by eating healthy. I am a foodie and I can never go on crazy diets, I also feel that they are not good for you health wise.

Post my India trip, I noticed that I am gaining the weight again as I am back on my crazy eating habits and lack of any physical activity(I blame it on weather). For past couple of weeks, I have been trying to eat healthy but it's not working out. I always think "this is my last piece of cake" or "I will start eating healthy from Monday" but it never happens. I then go through guilt trips as well. I have diabetes in my family and I am scared that if I didn't bring some control into my life it will be very late.

So here I am with a blog post to let you guys know that I am going to go on a healthy diet from now on definitely incorporate some kind of physical exercise into my lifestyle and for this I need support and encouragement from you all.

I also want to invite other people to join me in this journey so that we all can support each other and lead a healthy lifestyle. There is a biggest benefit to this...WE CAN WEAR WHAT EVER WE WANT..WOO HOO.

So who is joining me in this? Comment below and let me know. Also let me know if you were in a similar situation and how you tackled it.

  2. I want to loose a couple of lbs too for the summer! I am a mom of 2 and put on nearly 3 stones during pregnancy! However I have managed to loose nearly all of it now and I want to tone my mummy tummy and get rid of those stubborn fat around the mud section, the spare tyre, lol! I don't go to the gym but I have a few DVDs from jillian michaels and I really recommend the 30day shred! It's only 30 mins, which I am sure you will be able to fit into your daily routine! Good luck!

  6. I've recently lost 23 pounds and will continue to keep going with this "lifestyle change" not diet, until I lose more weight to get to my desired goal. Most importantly, I want to be healthy. I also have diabetes in my family, as well as high blood pressure and cholesterol issues; I don't want to go down that route and they have warned me not to also because taking pills are a hassle.

My biggest issue was red meat, I am a meat lover, omg! I love meat lol. I cut it down to once a week, I eat more seafood, shrimp everything, lots of veggies. I love broccoli. I make smoothies (more greens than fruits...80 greens like spinach and some fruits for sweetness but don't overdo it w/ the sugar from the fruits)...I drink a smoothie to replace a meal once a day. And when I want to snack throughout the day, I'm have nuts or a fiber bar. The Special K ones are pretty good.

Basically, I still eat well. I love food and like you, I'm def a foodie. Food makes life exciting lol. Just eat in PROPORTION. That's key. I still eat white rice, white potatoes, etc, I just have a small amount of it.

Good luck on your lifestyle change. I'm sure you will do well. I enjoyed reading this because i'm in the same boat. Keep us posted. Take care!

    2. Thanks a lot...so many great tips...From which websites are you taking the recipes for smoothie? I am not big into red meat but my weakness are cupcakes. I hope I will be able to control myself...

  7. Oh, I'm going through this right now. Due to having gone through the holidays, I've done a lot of eating and I sort off stopped going to the gym hence.... booom... gained 15lbs.

I've ALWAYS been a foodie and I don't think I'll ever go on a serious diet.

What I'm doing right now is that I'm eating healthier food and I'm exercising a lot as well. I go to the gym every other day and I jog my dogs every other day as well. AND, I try to eat healthy 6 days a week and 1 cheatday where in I eat what I want.

For me that's helping right now as I've lost about 2 lbs in a week.

Goodluck to us all on loosing the lbs! :)

  8. Hey Snig,

I'm in the same boat ... I was 125lbs right at the time of marriage and my husband insisted on loosing the extra fat from my tummy , I followed a proper diet plan by cutting down on cheese, chocolates and soda and came down to 105lbs and I was so happy and confident and most of my friends were kind of jelly about of my weight loss .... After my recent India trip I gained 10lbs as my taste buds have again started craving for those yummy but unhealthy stuff and I have been gulping those keeping aside my diet and exercise ... I'm really planning to cut down those added pounds. I always think of hitting the gym and laziness takes over my body and postpone it for the other day (which never comes) !!😭 Hope we encourage each other and reach our happy goals πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

  9. I always tell my friends if God grants me one wish that will be, " Eat what I want and not put on weight" :)

But I have come to realize that its all self control and a good active lifestyle!

I have put on 15 pounds during my India trip and lost it all and then some by just eating right.

Morning - Coffee and oatmeal with some cinnamon - 8.30 am
Lunch - Soup from my cafettria around 11.30am
    Snack - A banana and ONE-Coconut water 3.00pm
Dinner - 2 Roti or 2 cups rice with curry and yogurt, telugu girl cannot live without yogurt you see :)

and of course lots and lots of water.

I stopped exercising during the week but I do run/jog around 15 miles on weekend.

I am really happy with the results but I am ready to get on board with you!

All the best and lets do this :)
