Recipe: Cake pops

I have tried making cupcakes before so this time I decided to try cake pops. So if you are interested to know how I made them check below

Ingredients :

  • Cake Mix
  • Chocolate frosting
  • Candy Melts
  • Egg
  • Lollipop sticks

Step 1: Here I cheated a bit,we are actually supposed to make a cake from scratch. I couldn't be bothered so I used ready made cake mix(chocolate flavour) and made the cake. So I mixed the cake mix with some water as directed on the box.

Step 2: Added couple of eggs to mixture and beat it well

Step3 : I don't have a cake baking tray so I used my muffin baking tray. So fill the tray with the batter

Step 4: Preheat the oven at 160 degrees. Then insert this tray in the oven and let it bake for 20 mins and this is how it will look

Step 5: Let them cool off and then take a bowl and tear off the muffins into bits. This is going to be bit messy. Use both the hands to be more effective. Take two spoons of chocolate frosting and add in the shredded cake bits and mix it well

Step 6: Make small balls of the mixture as shown below. Keep the balls in the fridge for 1-2 hours.

Step 7: After 1 hr take the balls out of the fridge. Take couple of orange candy melts in a bowl and microwave them for a minute so that they melt. Take the lollipop sticks, dip them in the melted candy and insert them in the balls and put the balls in the fridge again for 1 hour so that the lollipop stick settles within the cake pop

Step 8: Take the pops out of the fridge. Melt the remaining candy melts and coat the cake pops with them and let it set and your cake pops are ready

Step 9: Open your mouth wide and take a huge bite :D

Can you suggest any substitutes for chocolate frosting and candy melts? I was thinking if I can make this for a birthday in India :-)
